Solent Freeport takes UK maritime innovation to the global stage at SMM 2026
Solent Freeport will showcase the strength and innovation of the region’s maritime sector on the international stage next month as it establishes a presence at SMM 2026 in Hamburg in partnership with Maritime Solent.
Taking place from 1 – 4 September, SMM Hamburg brings together maritime businesses, decision-makers, buyers, and industry leaders from around the world to explore the technologies, ideas, and partnerships shaping the future of the sector.
Solent Freeport will be represented at the event by Maritime Solent, with a presence within the UK Pavilion in Hall B1 Upper, stand 327.
As part of its commitment to supporting business growth and helping local companies access international opportunities, Solent Freeport has also provided grant funding to enable four businesses to attend the exhibition: XB44, RAD Propulsion, Attis, and Marine Cranes.
The support will give these businesses an opportunity to showcase their expertise, build international connections, and explore new commercial opportunities at one of the most significant events in the global maritime calendar.
The initiative reflects the shared ambition of Solent Freeport and Maritime Solent to strengthen the Solent’s position as a globally significant maritime cluster and gateway for international trade, while helping innovative businesses reach new customers and markets.

The four supported businesses demonstrate the breadth of expertise within the UK’s maritime economy.
Hampshire-based XB44 provides maritime and land-based security consultancy, training, and investigation services, delivering bespoke solutions to complex security challenges.
RAD Propulsion develops advanced marine technology spanning electric propulsion and autonomous vessel systems for commercial and defence applications.
Portsmouth-based Attis provides specialist safety and engineering expertise across complex industrial, infrastructure and maritime environments, including ports, vessels, docks and jetties.
Southampton-based Marine Cranes provides marine crane specification, commissioning, servicing, and support to customers in the UK and internationally.
Maritime Solent will represent Solent Freeport throughout SMM Hamburg, helping to promote the region’s maritime capabilities and connect businesses with potential customers, partners and investors.
